Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work for exhibitors?

As an exhibitor, you will mostly be in control of your own table(s). It is expected that you are friendly and polite to the public & fellow exhibitors and you work together to watch over each other's displays to ensure these are not tampered with. All we ask is common courtesy and for you to enjoy the day! As we get closer to the event, you will receive update e-mails to tell you any information you will need for the day.

What sort of models can I bring?

Unless a theme is specifically mentioned, then show anything you like, as long as it uses authentic LEGO pieces! This can be an array of small builds you have created yourself, large builds designed to amaze, or even your favourite sets displayed neatly on your plot.

How long is allowed to set up?

Normally we give up to 2 hours depending on the venue and size of the event. If you think you will need more than this please let us know in the comments box.

Are tables provided?

Yes. However, we only have a small supply of tablecloths, so if you do have one or two spare, and you are happy to, please bring them along in case there is a shortage amongst displayers!

Will I get free entry?

Yes, you will be issued with a lanyard on the day so you are recognised as event staff.

Do exhibitors get paid?

Generally it is not common to pay exhibitors to attend and display at brick events, but we do try and provide as many "perks" as we can as a thank you for exhibiting, as of 2023 we will be providing a Free Event Brick and Gift Voucher to all exhibitors and in some cases there may even be an "Expenses Contribution", but please see additional FAQ's for more details on this.

What facilities are at the venue?

There will always be refreshment and toilet facilities at a minimum. Most of our events are run with museums etc., so it is advisable to look on their website to see what they offer...and you will gain free entry to almost all areas unless specified.

Is there free parking / how much / will it be paid for?

Parking will always be free at our events. If parking is to be paid for, we will reimburse this upon the providing of receipts. We cannot be held responsible for any parking fines that may be applicable through no fault of our own, so please be extra vigilant when parking, or speak to one of us if you have any parking queries.

Will I need to stay overnight?

Normally you don't...unless it is a multi-day event or you are travelling from a distance. This is entirely at your discretion.

Do you cover accommodation/travel costs?

Whilst it is not common for this to be done for exhibitors or volunteers, from 2023 we may be able to provide an "Expenses Contribution". You will be able to use this contribution towards mileage (upon receipt of post code on sign up form), hotel accomodation or travel costs (upon us receiving receipts). Please remember to include your post code in the sign up form to indicate that you are interested in applying for this should it be applicable for the event you wish to attend. By completing this field, you are not automatically entitled to an "Expenses Contribution". This payment remains at the discretion of The BRICK People and you will be notified accordingly via email.

Do I need to bring lunch?

We provide a lunch allowance to purchase lunch at the venues, however we recommend bringing snacks in case your options are limited at the event in question or if you have an specific allergies or dietery requirements.

Is there any insurance for the exhibits and who provides it?

All exhibits and exhibitors are covered under The BRICK People's public liability and employer's liability insurance.

Do you charge entry fees to the public?

This is location/event dependent. We are normally governed by the venue's standard entry fees. However, we do run some free-to-enter displays also.

Who keeps an eye on my display if I'm away from the table?

We will look after them when we can, just let us know you will be away for a bit. You are welcome to bring along a second person if you wish, but there will also be the help from fellow exhibitors around you.

Do you need me at every event?

Not all our events call for exhibitors or traders and we appreciate the events calendar is growing all the time... we like to provide a variety of dates and locations so that exhibitors and traders have more choice, as we appreciate we are all scattered around in various locations.

How does it work for traders?

We don't like to take up more than 20% of the event with traders, so once you have applied we will be able to advise as soon as possible to let you know if we can accomodate you. There will be a small charge, relatable to the size and expected visitor count.

How much is a trader table?

This depends on the event itself. For a small event, which most of our events are, we normally charge around £25 for a table.

Do you charge commission to traders?

No. Your fee for the trading table is the only cost.

Are there any perks / rewards for exhibiting / trading?

We always give something to say thank you for coming to our events. For exhibitors, volunteers and traders, we supply a lunch contribution, an event brick and give everyone a discount at our shop table. From 2023 and beyond we are now offering an addition of an gift voucher per exhibitor table/volunteer. For some events we may also be able to provide an "Expenses Contribution" (please see the "Do you cover accommodation/travel costs?" FAQ).
